Survey Finds Indian Internet Users Willing To Switch ISPs For Improved Service and Lower Costs
As Internet services expand in India, operators are planning large investments to upgrade and scale their fiber infrastructure, consumers at the receiving end of these services continue to experience problems with their Internet connections due to various reasons, including weather. – related breakdowns and poor maintenance as suggested by the LocalCircles report.
LocalCircles revealed that it conducted a nationwide survey to understand customer views on current broadband/fibre/DSL services. In addition, it received over 51,000 responses from broadband/fixed Internet consumers in 303 regions of India. Of these respondents, 67% were male, 33% female, and 46% from Level 1, 32% from Level 2, and 22% from Level 3 and 4 districts.

When asked how often users usually have problems with the internet per month, 79% of the 13,480 respondents said they had problems with the internet at least once a month and 21% of fibre/broadband/DSL/landline users claimed to experience problems with the internet more than 3 times per month .
The survey also focused on the problems customers face when using these connections. Of the 11,672 respondents, 56% said the biggest problem was not getting the promised speed and service disruption issues. However, 30 percent of people admitted that they have no problems with their connections.
Another major concern of ISPs is the service resolution time after a user, who may be a student or a working professional, reports a problem. Although unsurprisingly, out of 13,646 responses, 46% of Fibre/Broadband/DSL/Fixed users said it takes 24 hours to resolve a ticket, with 2% even suggesting it took more than 7 days for their ISP to fix their problems.
